John Farrow was born in 1904 in Brondesbury Park, London(Hendon Q1-1904 3A:319) Q4-1917 3B:587), son of Martin Wills and Mary Jane Winifred FARROW
(née GUILLY).
1911 census...Aged 7 he was at Cable's Farm, Dullingham, with his father Martin Willis FARROW [40] Ladies tailor and Farmer, born Wickhambrook; his mother Mary Jane Winifred [38] born Sheerness; sisters Kathleen [10] born Kensal Rise, London and Eileen [3] born Brondesbury Park. London and brothers Bernard [5] and Leonard [1], both born in Brondesbury Park. A soldier, he sailed from London on 2nd March 1934 to Shanghai on the P & O 'Naldera'. His address at the time was "The Parsonage" Kirtling, Newmarket, Cambs. He married Evelyn Mary ESMOND in Shanghai 1934 (GRO Consular Marriages 28:117). They arrived back in England at Southampton in the Norddeutscher Lloyd Bremen 'Potsdam' on 25th February from Yokohama, via Kobe, Manila and Colombo. Their address was The Parsonage, Kirtling. At his death the newspapers had his address as Hall Farm, Kirtling. The address of his widow on probate was Sunnyside, Maddington, Shrewton, Wilts. His widower father was at Parsonage Farm, Kirtling for the 1939 register, his mother had died in 1931. John and Evelyn have not been identified in the register |
| The 17th Medium Regiment, Royal Artillery were in North Africa before going on to Italy. 23rd June 1942 he was promoted temporary Major. Exactly where or how John died is not known. |
